The 32nd Annual Maine Student Film and Video Festival is now taking submissions from Maine students in grades K-12. All films must be under 30 minutes in length and have only original music. All movies must be sent via DVD as a Quicktime file. The Festival is open to Maine residents 19 years of age and younger.

Movies submitted to the Festival are judged on the basis of originality, content, style, and technique. Movies are judged in three divisions: Pre-Teen Division, grades K - 6; Junior Division, grades 7 - 8; and Senior Division, grades 9 - 12. All film genres are accepted. Films often entered include animation, documentary and narrative.

Each year, finalists and winning movies are screened at the Festival's Public Screening and Awards Presentation, held in July at the Waterville Opera House during the Maine International Film Festival. Students, parents, friends and film buffs come to see the students' movies and hear from the young moviemakers as they come on stage to receive their awards. A Grand Prize winner is selected each year to receive a $2,500 scholarship to the The Maine Media Workshops' Young Filmmakers' Program. The scholarship is donated by the Workshops.
